About Us

Runoshi – Blades Forged in Shadow

Runoshi is a small team obsessed with real steel and honest craftsmanship. We hand‑forge Japanese‑style swords for people who care about more than just looks – collectors, martial artists, and fans who want blades that actually feel alive in the hand.

Every sword we ship starts as carefully chosen steel and ends as a tool that someone will train with, display with pride, or keep as a personal talisman.

Who We Are

Runoshi is a sword brand born from a simple idea: if a blade looks like a samurai sword, it should behave like one too. We are not a mass‑market cosplay shop. We work with experienced smiths and polishers who know how to take high-carbon steel and turn it into something that cuts, balances, and endures.

Our focus is Japanese‑style swords – katana, wakizashi, tanto, and related blades – plus a selection of anime, game, and movie-inspired swords built on the same foundations. Every Runoshi sword is designed to sit in the space between display and training: beautiful enough to put on a stand, real enough that you can feel the geometry and weight that make a sword trustworthy.

Based online and shipping worldwide, we serve dojos, collectors, and enthusiasts who share our respect for the sword.

How We Forge a Runoshi Blade

Chosen Steel, Not Mystery Metal

We start with steels we trust – high carbon, 1060, 1095, T10, and pattern steels – never random mystery alloys. Each choice has a purpose: toughness for training swords, edge retention for cutting blades, and visual pattern for collectors.

Forged and Heat‑Treated for Purpose

Our partner Smiths Forge and heat‑treat each blade to bring out the right hardness and flexibility for its job. Some models are differentially hardened with visible hamon, others are through‑hardened workhorses meant to take repeated cuts and abuse.

Hand‑Shaped, Polished, and Inspected

We hand‑shape the geometry – shinogi, kissaki, balance point – then polish until the lines are clean and the edge is ready. Before a sword leaves the workshop, it is inspected for straightness, fit, and function so you do not receive a wall‑hanger that rattles or bends on first use.

Mounts Built to Be Used

Handles, guards, and scabbards are assembled with real usability in mind: full‑tang construction, tight ito wraps over ray skin, saya fitted to avoid loose blades or damage. A sword is a system, not just a piece of steel.

Who Our Swords Are For

Runoshi swords are for people who feel something when they hold a blade – whether that comes from history, training, or a favorite story.

  • For practitioners: You need a sword that can survive regular cutting and forms without falling apart. We mark clearly which models are suitable for light or heavy cutting and which are better kept as display pieces.
  • For collectors: You want pieces that look good up close, not just in photos – clean lines, honest polish, fittings that do not feel like plastic toys.
  • For anime & game fans: You want iconic designs from your favorite worlds, but built on real blades, not hollow decor. Our themed swords start from functional constructions and then add the colors, guards, and scabbards that make them instantly recognizable.

Our Promise to You

We are committed to being honest about what each sword is and what it is not. We will tell you if a blade is meant for light cutting only, if it is better as a display replica, or if it is built to handle serious training. No exaggerated “unbreakable” claims, no pretending stainless steel decor is a battlefield tool.

We aim to answer questions quickly, pack carefully, and make it easy for you to choose the right sword for your purpose. If you ever feel unsure, we would rather talk you out of the wrong sword than into a quick sale.
